IELTS Writing

Express your ideas clearly and effectively in written English

Overview

The IELTS Writing module measures your ability to express ideas clearly in written English. It has two tasks: Task 1 and Task 2. In Academic Writing, Task 1 asks you to describe graphs, charts, or diagrams, while Task 2 requires writing an essay expressing your opinion with reasons and examples. In General Training, Task 1 is usually a letter, and Task 2 is also an essay. Writing requires organizing ideas logically, using correct grammar, and linking sentences smoothly. You need to present your ideas clearly and stay on topic. Planning before writing and proofreading at the end helps avoid mistakes. Practicing different topics, learning useful vocabulary, and understanding essay structures improves speed and accuracy. Strong writing skills are essential for study and work abroad, as they show your ability to communicate ideas effectively in English.
